Birthing In Awareness
A Yoga Workshop for Expectant Mothers and Birth Partners
In this childbirth preparation workshop, expectant mothers and birth partners will explore effective and practical yoga poses, guided meditations, hands on touch, and support/coping resources for navigating labor and birth. The workshop will be an interactive practice space for moms and their birth partners to ask questions and to learn how to apply yoga and mindfulness to their labor/birth experience. Prior yoga experience NOT necessary. Those who work with expectant families are welcome to attend!
Birthing in Awareness is led by Stephanie Jones, MA, E-RYT. Stephanie is an experienced registered yoga teacher, a Birthing From Within birth mentor, and mother (currently expecting baby #2). She can personally attest to the benefits of a yoga practice during pregnancy, labor, and birth. One of her greatest passions is empowering expectant parents in building a foundation for birthing in awareness and reconnecting with birth as a sacred rite of passage.
Growing from Grief
A Healing Yoga Workshop
with Stephanie Jones, E-RYT 200, MA
All Levels Welcome. No prior experience required.
Change and loss are inescapably connected to the human experience. In yoga, we honor the cycles of life, including birth and death, opening and closing, rising and falling; and in this recognition of impermanence, we invite and allow our feelings about change to transform our lives. Life events, such as death of a loved one, divorce, or loss of a job, can trigger a deep sense of grief. Yoga offers us healthy coping tools, not only to process the many feelings associated with grief, but to open our hearts and grow from adversity. Ultimately, grief can be the catalyst for immersing our souls in the beauty of life.
The Growing from Grief Workshop, led by Stephanie Jones, E-RYT 200, MA, will explore the unique expressions and experiences of grief in a safe and therapeutic environment by blending perspectives from Yogic & Buddhist Philosophy, Western Psychology, and Energy Work. Breath work, yoga, and meditation will help you to deeply connect with your felt sense, an inner-wisdom that unifies the mind, body, and spirit. Discussions, journaling, and energy work will accompany the yoga practice.
Non-practitioners and those struggling to find an outlet for grief are highly encouraged to attend.
This workshop is suitable for: Bereaved individuals, Persons dealing with major losses/major life changes (i.e. divorces, end of relationships, loss of job, etc.), People in the Helping Field (Counselors, Social Workers, Teachers, etc.)
About the Instructor: Stephanie Jones, E-RYT 200, MA is a 2009 Savannah Yoga Center teacher training graduate, and is also a 2011 South University Master of Arts graduate in Professional Counseling. A labor of love, The Growing from Grief Workshop was created as an important piece to Stephanie?s personal healing journey. In 2007, her father?s life was taken by a drunk driver, and yoga provided her with a safe space in which to process her grief. Stephanie says, ?Yoga continues to act as a loving guide and sanctuary for my soul, teaching me to look deeply into the expansive and compassionate nature of the heart. This is what inspires me to share yoga with others.?
